My multi-cultural roots urge my interest to repeatedly submerge myself within different cultures. The constant change in my surroundings challenge me daily to reinvent my identity to adjust in the foreign society. By living in various other countries however, I have alienated myself from my origins. Over the course of many years I have come to recognize this accumulation of multi-cultural knowledge and experience to be both supporting and contradicting to the development of my personal identity. Thus, my daily struggles to unify and balance these contradictions have now become a driving force within my work. I have come to explore cross-cultural interfacing and notions of alienation through my work, via Shibori sculpture.
